Enlarged Prostate Treatment in Oxford

Aquablation · Rezum Water Vapour Therapy · TURP

If you are a man living with an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH), you may be getting up several times a night, waiting for your flow to start, or never quite feeling empty. Tablets help many men, but not everyone, and many men would rather avoid long-term medication or traditional surgery.

At OX Urology, Mr Sarp Keskin offers the full range of modern prostate treatments in Oxford and Banbury, including Aquablation robotic waterjet surgery and Rezum water vapour (steam) therapy, with one consultant looking after you from your first appointment to follow-up.

Is this right for me?

You may benefit from a consultation if you have:

  • A weak or interrupted urine stream, or straining to pass urine

  • Getting up at night to pass urine

  • Urgency, frequency or a feeling of incomplete emptying

  • Side effects from prostate tablets, or tablets that no longer work

  • A catheter, or episodes of urinary retention

Aquablation: robotic waterjet prostate surgery

Aquablation uses a robot-guided, heat-free waterjet to remove prostate tissue, planned in real time with ultrasound imaging. It is suitable for a wide range of prostate sizes, including larger glands. Because it avoids heat and is precisely mapped, it is designed to help preserve ejaculation and erections in most men. It is performed under anaesthetic, usually with a short hospital stay.

Rezum water vapour (steam) therapy

Rezum water vapour therapy uses small, controlled doses of steam to shrink the prostate. It is a short day-case procedure under a short general anaesthetic, with no cuts. Most men go home the same day. Symptoms improve gradually over the following weeks, and the risk of sexual side effects is low.

Other options

Not every man needs surgery. Depending on your symptoms and tests, the right plan may be lifestyle advice, tablets, or a more traditional operation such as TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate). Mr Keskin will explain every option clearly, including when treatment is not needed.

Which treatment is best for you?

The right choice depends on your prostate size and shape, your symptoms, your general health and what matters most to you. Mr Keskin will assess you, arrange any tests you need (such as a flow test, bladder scan or prostate ultrasound) and agree a plan with you.
