VESICOURETERAL REFLUX (VUR)
-Is endoscopic surgery successful in cases of urine leaking back from the bladder to the kidneys (urinary reflux)?
First, it's important to note that indications for surgery in patients with VUR have decreased significantly in recent years. VUR is a disease that can cause recurrent urinary tract infections and, consequently, kidney damage.
Sting (endoscopic reflux treatment) is a closed surgical technique used to treat urine leakage from the bladder into the kidneys. This technique has a success rate of approximately 80%. Repeated procedures can also be performed, achieving success rates exceeding 90%. Open surgery (UNC) for this condition has a much higher success rate. However, endoscopic surgery offers significant advantages in terms of surgical risks and postoperative comfort.
