Who should undergo TES surgery? What are the advantages of the microscopic method?

TESE surgery (Testicular Sperm Extraction) involves making a roughly 1 cm incision in the ovary and searching for sperm. This surgery is performed when sperm cannot be expelled and when there is no other underlying condition that could explain the problem. If the patient's problem is due solely to a blockage in the sperm ducts, TESE surgery retrieves sperm within the testicles and assisted reproductive techniques (IVF, in vitro fertilization) are used. One of the most important aspects of this surgery is minimizing damage to the testicles. In microscopic surgery, the surgeon uses a specially designed microscope to provide a detailed image, up to 40 times the magnification of what the human eye can see. Therefore, the operating microscope is a device that allows the surgery to be performed with minimal damage to the testicles. You can see how microscopic TESE (microTESE) surgery is performed in the surgery images section.
